And now those hands in the air!

At the end of November it was -8 in Twente, a provisional cold record. You should not think that later in February, when the carnival starts, it will also be so cold. But it could very well be, so when you’re shopping your carnival outfits, keep scarves, gloves and hats in mind as well. Fortunately, you will find just about all clothing in carnival  colors at fopenfeestkleding, both the  Limburg  and the  Brabant colors. But you will also find all other cheerful colors with us. Even when it freezes hard, you can still breathe with those hands while you hold an ice cold beer.

Carnival socks in red yellow and green

People sometimes look at carnival strangely. They find it scary to dress up and go out on the street with it. But with carnival it is not at all mandatory to walk like a rascalloot, it is of course allowed. It is actually best to experience the carnival in your jeans and sweater, but with a red-yellow-green scarf, hat or socks. It doesn’t even have to be all three at once. Keep in mind that the nice thing about dressing up,  face painting  and a  wig  is that no one recognizes you. You don’t have to be ashamed of anyone and you can do whatever you want.

Difference Brabant and Limburg carnival

Afgezien van het feit dat je als westerling of iemand van boven de rivieren de Limburgers meestal niet kunt verstaan en de Brabanders wel, zijn er nog meer verschillen. Ga je op de bonnefooi naar Brabant dan kun je wel eens van een koude kermis thuiskomen. Want anders dan in Limburg vindt het carnaval meestal plaats achter al dan niet gesloten deuren, in cafés en restaurants. Natuurlijk is er wel een grote optocht en heeft ieder dorp zijn eigen carnaval. In Limburg is Carnaval echt een straatfeest, net als in Brazilië. Daar ontkom je niet aan het gedruis, dus wie niet van carnaval houdt kan Limburg voor zekerheid maar beter vermijden.
